Best Kayak Tour of Pictured Rocks
We were so glad that we booked with this company and that we chose to do the Ultimate Kayak Tour. Unlike other companies, the boat stays with you the entire time. You can get on and off the boat for any reason, even if it is just to go to the bathroom. We felt so safe and well taken care of. The boat captain and all the guides were fantastic and really focused on safety. Our guide Zach was super nice and friendly.

An Absolute Must – Even for Beginning Kayakers
This is a must for seeing picured rocks! The crew are professional and knowledgeable. Even a beginner kayaker will be able to enjoy Pictured Rocks. It is a lot of fun and the pace is perfect for beginners and to really experience the caves and beauty. We wanted to book another tour as soon as we finished!
A class act best 4th of July possible
The people was amazing. The ladies that checked us in were so polite. Captain Harry and his crew were simply amazing. Explaining the process was effortless. Boarding and in boarding the kayaks the guys will make sure you’re safe Logan was our guide and he was the best talking about the age of the rocks and the stories from long ago. Never felt rushed out on the water. Logan made sure he had a connection with his group as all the other guides. These guys were very organized. By the trip back to the dock the worn out 4 th of July group was still singing Sweet Caroline! The whole time took time to get a photo with our traveling companion Bob!

This is a MUST-DO at Pictured Rocks!
This company is amazing! They are very professional and organized with a big focus on safety. The main boat stays close by the whole time, so if you need to go back to the main boat for any reason, you can. Our tour guide, James, was the best. He was fun and informative and safety-focused.
Also, don’t worry about kayaking FIVE miles. It’s not as hard as it sounds. You are in tandem boats and it’s really pretty easy. I thought it sounded like it would be pretty strenuous, but it really wasn’t. If you go to Pictured Rocks, this is a must-do. I will be recommending Pictured Rocks Kayaking to anyone I know who is visiting the area. Really an A+ company!
First time Kayaking- Fantastic time
This was a great way to kayak for my first time. There is a safety/how to demo before you go onto the boat. The boat takes you to the scenic part of pictured rocks and you launch right off the boat. It is really easy to launch. If I can do it, you can. You are in a tandem kayak, so if you are solo, you will be paired with another solo/odd number of group person or a guide. The views were beautiful and the guide for my small group, Calvin, was fantastic. There were no negatives for me, but I should mention that there are size restrictions to the kayak. I am a big person and I just fit in the kayak. There is a demo kayak in the ticket office that you can check out prior to purchasing a ticket, if you have any concerns about fitting in the kayak.
Kayaker’s Dream Trip of Pictured Rocks
They company begins the tour by getting everyone fitted with a life jacket and skirt for the kayak. They then explain how to paddle etc.
We all boarded the boat and headed for the pretty pictured rocks. After riding for an hour, we arrived.
They divided us into 6 groups, each with our own guide. The guide, James, did a great job explaining the history of the area and the different minerals that make up the colors of Pictured Rocks.
We kayaked for over two hours. We went into sea caves and hugged the coastline to truly explore Picture Rocks. The entire time the boat followed us and kept contact with our guide. If anyone needed to use the bathroom, they could go back to the boat.
Once we finished, we went back to the boat. They loaded the kayaks and we went onto the boat. Then we rode back to Munising. We got to see a lighthouse built in the 1800s.
The team was very knowledgeable and I felt very safe. I would recommend this tour.

Don’t overlook the short tour…
“Adventure Vinny” was a great guide for our kayaking tour. Super informative about what we were seeing and local history all while keeping our group together, smiling and safe.
Probably had one of the to 10 infectious laughs I’ve had the pleasure of hearing.
The shorter Miner tour gets you in the water and up close to some amazing formations, but is still easy enough for young or older paddlers who aren’t experienced.
Great outfitter who prioritizes safety while still encouraging all to have a great time.
We’ll be back…

10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Such a fun experience! Even though the water got choppy and we couldn’t venture into the caves, it was still a really awesome time. Our guide, Bobbie, was super laid back, and down to Earth. He was very knowledgeable and always made sure the group was together and doing okay. The captain was also very welcoming, and never once did I feel unsafe on the boat. I’m going to go back and hope there are better weather conditions so I can go in the caves! 10/10 highly recommend!! Don’t do the boat cruises, get in these kayaks and get right next to the Beautiful scenery!! You won’t regret it!!
My wife and I had an amazing kayak tour with this company in early June. We had a veteran guide named Vinny who demonstrated a mastery of history, knowledge and the ability to assist when in need. He is a Native American and took us back in time where tribes used these waters. He is such a joyous and carefree man that we were privileged to have had him lead us through the five mile kayak trip. We learned the history of the rock, the multitude of formations, and a history of Lake Superior. We strongly recommend taking this tour. If a day sells out, they usually add another tour for that day. It is easy to find where to park with plenty of clean restrooms and a nice gift shop for souvenirs or to buy something you forgot. Some general advice is to have one of your two kayakers bring a waterproof cover for your phone to take the pictures and videos while the other paddles. Also, keep the spray skirt high or the water goes right into your lap ?. Don’t forget to tip your guide if you enjoyed their service ??
Julia was our guide and although the weather wasn’t in our favor, she was a super star and shared some cool facts about the rocks & even towed my husband for a portion of the trip which I’ll never let him forget! Great company and really appreciated the boat ride to the rocks and the bathroom when needed. They provided us with spray skirts to keep dry which was MUCH NEEDED. We have seen them rocks from the cruise, but kayaking them up close is worth the expense & one of the only companies that allow 6yr olds to kayak! Kids loved it very much
